A recently conducted survey reveals that a significant majority of expats in Mexico are highly satisfied with their private healthcare experiences. The inaugural MND Mexico Healthcare Experience Survey shows that 92.9% of respondents rated the quality of care they received as either “excellent” or “good.” This information is crucial for both current residents and those considering a move to Mexico, as healthcare is often a major concern.
The survey, which garnered responses from 714 individuals across various regions—from Hermosillo to Mérida—highlighted the positive attributes of Mexico’s healthcare system. Many expressed surprise at the level of personalized care and the accessibility of doctors. Feedback indicated that many healthcare professionals here take the time to genuinely listen to their patients. Such personal engagement stands in contrast to experiences some have had in other countries, notably the U.S.
Financial considerations also play a crucial role in private healthcare decisions. Over 91% of survey participants reported paying for their healthcare out-of-pocket, with many finding services to be considerably cheaper than in their home countries. About 82.8% noted that healthcare costs were lower in Mexico, alleviating concerns many had prior to their move.
The survey also highlighted that approximately 70% of respondents feel “very confident” in the training and qualifications of private doctors in the country. Trust in medical professionals is vital for anyone seeking care, and this overwhelming confidence is reassuring.
Access to healthcare seems to be another strong point. More than 95% of participants found it easy to obtain medical services when required. This timely accessibility can significantly reduce anxiety around health concerns, fostering a sense of security in daily life.
There remains an avenue for improvement. While one-third of respondents reported being genuinely satisfied with their healthcare experience, some expressed the need for better insurance interactions and more specialists available locally.
This extensive survey sheds light on the realities of private healthcare in Mexico, offering vital insights for both residents and prospective expats. The data underscores the country’s growing reputation as a viable option for quality healthcare, fostering hope and confidence among those who call Mexico home.
