A significant federal operation in Michoacán led to the arrest of nine individuals believed to be associated with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), including two women connected to a cartel leader. This development is crucial for Michoacán residents, as security forces seek to enhance safety and stability in the region, which has been deeply affected by cartel violence.
The arrests took place in the towns of Tinaja de Vargas and Colesio, part of the municipalities of Tanhuato and Ecuandureo, where the presence of CJNG has created fear and unrest among communities. In response to the federal action, the cartel initiated narco-blockades, setting vehicles ablaze at over 20 locations, which caused temporary disruption. Fortunately, by early afternoon, most of these blockades had been cleared, allowing residents to move freely again.
The Ministry of National Defense confirmed that the operation, supported by the National Guard, the federal Security Ministry, and other agencies, was informed by thorough military intelligence. Among those arrested was Marisol “N,” identified as the daughter of Heraclio “N,” a regional CJNG figure known as “Tío Lako,” who continues to evade capture. He is implicated in orchestrating recent attacks against security forces.
During the operation, authorities seized significant amounts of weaponry, vehicles, and narcotics, further demonstrating the ongoing battle against organized crime. The suspects were transported by helicopter to Mexico City for processing.
In light of the narco-blockades, Governor Alfredo Ramírez assured citizens that steps were being taken to maintain safety on highways. He urged everyone to remain cautious while driving and to stay informed through official channels. Despite the challenges posed by organized crime, efforts from the Government of Mexico and its security agencies aim to restore a sense of normalcy and security for all citizens.
