In a significant step towards enhancing Mexico’s industrial landscape, President Claudia Sheinbaum recently announced the establishment of 20 new industrial parks as part of her Plan México initiative. This development brings to fruition 40 of the anticipated 100 parks, generating a potential 32,127 jobs and attracting investments estimated between USD 670 million and USD 763 million. These parks, which are already operational, will play a crucial role in bolstering the nation’s economy by connecting workers with new opportunities in key sectors such as electronics, medical devices, and logistics.
Sheinbaum made the announcement alongside the Mexican Association of Private Industrial Parks (AMPIP) at the National Palace. The new parks are spread across eight federal entities, including significant locations like Coahuila and Nuevo León, benefiting a total of 17 municipalities. This initiative is aimed at reinforcing the local infrastructure necessary for attracting capital and improving supply chain dynamics, ultimately fostering a more competitive environment for businesses.
The total surface area of these industrial parks reaches 4.6 million square meters, housing around 175 companies that contribute to the country’s industrial base. David O’Donnell, president of the AMPIP Board of Directors, emphasized the strategic value of these developments for Mexico, highlighting the synergy between industry, education, and community engagement. He noted that the investments, expected to reach USD 4.6 billion this year alone, could significantly enhance formal employment and training prospects for families throughout Mexico.
By creating a robust industrial framework, the government seeks not only to boost economic performance but also to improve the overall quality of life for citizens, empowering young people with new job opportunities. As the nation continues to develop its industrial parks, the focus remains on translating economic growth into real benefits for Mexican families, ensuring a brighter future for all.
