Schneider Electric, a prominent French multinational company, is set to significantly expand its manufacturing operations in Querétaro. This development, expected to create 4,000 direct jobs by 2027, is poised to have a positive impact on the local economy and the lives of many residents. The new facilities will cover 115,000 square meters and involve the production of key electrical distribution solutions and equipment for critical energy infrastructure, reinforcing both job opportunities and economic growth in the region.
The expansion comprises two completed facilities, with plans for a third, aimed at producing specialized projects through custom “engineer-to-order” models. Schneider Electric’s leadership recognizes Querétaro’s strategic advantages, including its skilled workforce, robust industrial capacity, and ideal location for advancing electrification and digitalization in the country.
Luis D’Acosta Anezin, President of Schneider Mexico and Central America, expressed gratitude for the support from the state government, emphasizing the company’s commitment to Querétaro and hinting at future investments. The company is actively hiring, with plans to onboard between 200 and 250 new employees each month, focusing on training engineers and technicians in advanced manufacturing and energy infrastructure.
Governor Mauricio Kuri González recently met with Schneider executives to discuss the project’s potential, as the company refrained from disclosing an exact investment figure. Kuri González noted that by 2028, the total job opportunities from the new facilities could reach between 7,000 and 8,000, amplifying the positive ripple effects on the local community.
With existing plants in Querétaro, Nuevo León, and Tlaxcala, Schneider Electric aims to satisfy the rising industrial demand across North and Central America, especially in the fast-evolving sectors of data centers and the digital economy. The broader national strategy, Plan México, aims to enhance electricity generation significantly by 2030, with substantial investments to bolster power plants and transmission networks, recognizing the urgent need for reliable energy sources amid regional disparities.
